The banter between Kiss and Paul Lynde is priceless.   And Florence Henderson’s song … well, she’s like scoring the full size candy bar while trick or treating.

Chris Joss does it, again!!

October 28, 2011

Swear, I love this dude. He brings the funk every-dang-time.Chris Joss’s latest release on ESL Music, No Play No Work, is yet another great jam! Along with the funk, he throws in psychedelia/rock and occasional moments of espionage. Reading up on the album, they mention his focus on Stevie Wonder and Herbie Hancock – no doubt about that. This is the only video I could find for his new release, and I hate to say it, but this track doesn’t truly reflect the full album. Tracks like “Toxic People” or “Come on it’s Time to get Up” are more along the lines of my favorite.   He’s one of my top 20. Always brings it. Here’s a video of him at work, creating a track. Holy cow!

AM & Shawn Lee

October 27, 2011

Perusing the ESL Music label’s page the other day and I realized, I’ve been missing out! ESL was always the go to label for me. After all, it’s how I discovered Nicole Conte! The sounds range from international to jazz to bossa to funk to pop to electric, but all in the same vein. My next few posts will feature some of their artists. First up is AM & Shawn Lee. Talk about an album growing on me. Wasn’t blown away at first, but now, I find myself perpetually going back to their new release, Celestial Electric. Well groomed pop that incorporates soul, funk, with melodic overtones. It’s a very chilled vibed. Pretty dang and otherwise killer-ly amazing video right here:

But this is the song that does it for me!

*** and yes, it’s that Shawn Lee.

Grace Jones

October 14, 2011

I could watch live performance videos of Grace Jones for hours. What makes that first video even better, is the fact that she’s 62. That woman don’t play!!! The tiger scene in the next video … let’s just say, wish I was there. Another rad version of “Slave to the Rhythm.” This last one is with Iggy Pop. So wrong and so awkward, yet, so good!

COM TRUISE

October 13, 2011

Try saying that name 5 times fast!?

I am digging Galactic Melt so hard. It’s my favorite sound of a sound scape. It’s electronic, it’s 80’s synth, it’s soundtrack — it’s sci-fi soundtrack. Yeah, and it’s funky. The music relates itself to everything and every mood (at least, in my life). And if you check out youtube & vimeo, there’s an infinite supply of super rad videos people have made via Com Truise. And there’s more. Where Tron (original Tron) and Blade Runner meet.

A wise person once said, “Com Truise is sooo Gop Tun.”

O.K. I just have to …

October 12, 2011

throw out a video for Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head. While I’m excited about Brite Futures (see previous post), I reaalllly loved NPSH.

Brite Futures

October 12, 2011

The band formally known as Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head (of which I was a devout fan) has a new album out next month. Fun electro pop.  They’ve released a new video for one of their tracks. – while I love the video, I actually like this song better. Looks like they’re releasing a series of teaser videos leading up to their album release …  What I loved about NPSH is that whole fun element. Hands down one of the best live shows I’ve seen. Hoping their reincarnation as Brite Futures is just as fun!

It’s been a minute, or two. Hope to be back and chatting about music so-so super fast. Classic sounds …
