Fabulous Rusty Warren

March 31, 2010

Rusty Warren, you are still an amazing creature!

Juanita (performing) embodies Rusty’s divine rawness. Ladies … embrace your freedom.

Shilpa Ray and Her Happy Hookers. This lady, this lady, THIS LADY kills it. I don’t know what you call this kinda music, but it is the cat’s meow.

She lays it all out there in her live shows. This video is kinda crazy … but it captures her vibe. Crack a listen to A Fish Hook An Open Eye on the website (linked above).

These guys are groove electro- pop that bring the good times to the party. And somehow, they even manage to get the soul going. Seriously, they’ve got some tricks up their sleeves. Their new album No Mas is the perfect soundtrack for a day in the park or starter drinks for the evening.

Timber Timbre mood check

March 23, 2010

This wonderful band reminds me of the soundtrack for Trees Lounge. It’s somewhere between dark bar music and alone with a lover music. This video is a great primer to their music. Timber timbre own the mood, and it can be a beautifully heavy one. Love them.

Kotchy for breakfast

March 22, 2010

I like Kotchy because they/he bring(s) the groove within subtleties. Kind of like my morning starter if you will – my music morning coffee. Understated experimental groove pop that eases me into my day.

And if you dig around in his website, there’s a free mp3 download or two.

I survived SXSW!

March 22, 2010

Ok ok ok! Survived sxsw … hope to be back and posting lots of great music!

Even though they are based out of New York, BBB are all world beat. Gypsy and horns and electronic sounds come together to make the music happen. Blue Eyed Black Boy is such a collaboration/coming together of world flair. The energy is crazy. Check out this video … rad!
